Lafayette Park, San Francisco

My mom drove to San Francisco this morning for brunch and to explore the city with me.  After hitting up Park Tavern (1652 Stockton Street), we set off to walk around Lafayette Park, my favorite park in the city.  Perhaps I shouldn’t blow the secret, but Lafayette has some of the best tennis courts I’ve found.  They’re even, freshly painted, surrounded by beautiful trees, near clean public restrooms, and free (of charge that is, sometimes you have to wait). The rest of the park is gorgeous and has amazing views of the water and of Spreckels Mansion (aka home of Danielle Steel).  Definitely one of my favorite spots to bring a picnic.

After walking around Lafayette, we headed to Presidio Heights to see some beautiful homes, and wandered into some shops and into the Presidio.  This city never ceases to amaze with its beauty.  I’m loving that everyone seems to be away for the weekend–there’s abundant parking everywhere!

Lafayette Park is located in Pacific Heights on the corner of Gough & Washington Streets.

Lands End Trail, San Francisco

One of my New Years’ resolutions is to post in my blog at least once a week, so here’s knocking out week 1!  Does it still count that I took these photos a few weeks ago?  I kept hearing about the Lands End trail and finally made it out.  We accessed the trail from the golf course behind the Legion of Honor (also worth a visit).  Definitely a beautiful hike, but pay attention to the signs that read “Trail Closed Ahead,” they aren’t joking.  We couldn’t find the point where we accessed the trail and somehow managed to end up at the closed portion.  For those who know me, I’m sure you find this shocking.  (Sarcasm.)
