The Mission, San Francisco

Valencia is one of my favorite streets in San Francisco (or at least one that is cool and close enough that I frequent it).  There are tons of great restaurants, lots of interesting stores, and good people watching.  Find hilarious cards for any occasion and any relationship (even bizarre and x-rated ones) at Serendipity.  If you’re hungry, there are plenty of great places to choose from, I can vouch for Loló, Tacolicious, and Range.  Or grab a tasty alcoholic drink at Locanda, or a latte at Fourbarrel.  (Better to go to Fourbarrel for good coffee and people watching than to do work because there is (gasp), no wifi.)

I’m a fan of the short rib tacos at Tacolicious.  Order some and settle in for one of the U.S.A. or Mexico World Cup games. For more information, click here!

* Serendipity is located at 803 Valencia Street (at 19th Street).

*Tacolicious is located at 741 Valencia Street (at 18th Street) and open daily from 11:30 a.m. to midnight.  Tacolicious has multiple locations.

*Fourbarrel is located at 375 Valencia Street (at 15th Street), also open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Blue Bottle Coffee, San Francisco

San Francisco sure knows you to haze a girl.  After being in the city for less than 24 hours, I got a parking ticket, my back car window was shattered, and my car was ransacked.  Fortunately, the vandals were nice enough to leave most of my things, including my favorite jacket, and they even left me a cinnamon roll.  Delicious.

Since then, however, things have brightened up.  The car repair shop took a liking to me and not only let me leave my car overnight, but also gave me 50% off.  I also discovered Blue Bottle Coffee.  I’d heard of it before, and seen photos of their drinks, but I got to experience it first hand yesterday.  Despite the fact that Blue Bottle has multiple locations, I somehow managed to find my way to the Kiosk location.  I must say, this was one of the best lattes I’ve had.  In an alley no less.  (I wasn’t as excited about the cookie.)

Intelligensia, Venice

Less than 24-hours after being back in Los Angeles, I made it to the beach after getting my caffeine fix at one of my favorite places for coffee, Intelligensia.

Intelligensia, just blocks from the beach, is located on Abbot Kinney–donned by GQ as the “Coolest Block in America.”  They make great coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, hot chocolate (of which my dad can attest), and iced lattes.  If you can think it, they probably make it.  Although expect to wait, there’s always a line.

Intelligensia, 1331 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice, California 90291.
