Andrew Bird @ Stern Grove Festival

On Sunday, I went with a group of friends to see Andrew Bird And The Hands Of Glory at the 77th annual Stern Grove Festival.  It was my first time there; the venue is truly magical.  The stage is nestled in a field amidst giant redwood, fir, and eucalyptus trees.  As you can see below, if you arrive late, you can end up one of the tree people.  Luckily, some of our group arrived really early and scored a spot right in front, below the stage.  I hadn’t heard Andrew Bird’s music before (clearly my loss), but I fell in love.  He’s an amazingly talented musician–he sings, plays violin and guitar, loops the music live, and whistles like a bird.  Perhaps that’s where he got his name.  (Click here and scroll down to listen to Pulaski at Night.)

P.S. Despite being on top of the stage, there was no photography allowed of the performers, so you’ll have to use your imagination.
